SEED for Oklahoma Kids

SEED for Oklahoma Kids (SEED OK) is a large experiment testing the idea of giving every child a Child Development Account (CDA)at birth. CSD is coordinating SEED OK partners, leading policy implementation and management, designing the research program and carrying out two research methods, and disseminating knowledge to the public and policy makers. Planning for SEED OK began in 2004, and the initiative will continue beyond 2014.

SEED OK research is multi-method and rigorous, consisting of an longitudinal experiment with random assignment of SEED OK treatment and control participants, account monitoring, and in-depth interviews. Through SEED OK, we aim to understand: (1) How much families save for their children’s education; (2) The impacts of SEED OK on parents’ expectations and behavior; and (3) How much difference SEED OK will make in child development and educational achievement.
