A Decade of International Volunteering From the United States, 2004 to 2014

By CSD • March 18, 2015September 9, 2021

Each year, approximately one million individuals reported volunteering abroad with marginal fluctuations year to year. This report gathered data from the volunteer supplement of the Current Populations Survey (CPS) from September 2004 through September 2014, building on previous reports from 2004-2012. Thus, this report provides a picture of international volunteer service among the U.S. population and the characteristics of those who engage in international volunteerism.
