Asset Builders Learning Coalition

Growing the asset-building learning community through information and knowledge sharing

The goal of this project is to create a more broad and solid infrastructure for the asset-building policy field in the United States, by building the capacity of the existing asset-building learning community. The project strategy for accomplishing this goal is to offer a number of topical convenings to be attended by various experts in the assets field, over a two-year period, for the purpose of sharing information and knowledge on the effectiveness of existing and proposed assets policy innovations.

CSD will work with Benita Melton, a program officer of the C. S. Mott Foundation, to establish diverse and sustainable partnerships focused on informing and advancing inclusive state and federal assets policy development, creating policies that will expand asset-building incentives and opportunities, across the life spectrum, for all low- to moderate-income individuals and families in the United States.

To accomplish this goal, learning communities across the country must receive increased knowledge support for work that includes: engaging new constituencies in this work; creating sustainable organizations to do the work; increasing the effectiveness of statewide asset-building coalitions; expanding the range of current asset-building and asset-development polices; and increasing knowledge and awareness of inclusive asset-building policies and initiatives in the states and beyond.
