​Thomas Shapiro, sociology alumnus (PhD, ’78) and former Brown School faculty member,  speaks about his new book, “Toxic Inequality: How America’s Wealth Gap Destroys Mobility, Deepens the Racial Divide, and Threatens Our Future.” Well known for his research on wealth inequality, especially inequality by race, Dr. Shapiro co-wrote with Melvin Oliver the landmark book “Black Wealth/White Wealth” (1995). Hosted by Washington University in St. Louis Department of Sociology and co-sponsored by the George Warren Brown School of Social Work, School of Law and the Weidenbaum Center.
