Emerging Perspectives on International Volunteerism in Asia
International Service
This project examined emerging perspectives on international volunteerism in Asia. Evidence from the Asian region is scant compared with that from Europe and the Americas, yet there is increasing activity and new forms of partnerships. The project conducted an online survey of International Voluntary Service organizations to identify principal characteristics, assess challenges and evaluate strengths. Researchers also conducted qualitative field research in seven countries: Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, India, China, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
