The round-table marked the beginning of the National Conference on Volunteering and Service. Key plenary discussions included volunteer engagement in meeting millennium development goals, research highlighting effective volunteer service policy models, and addressing global conflict through service and interfaith dialogue. Multiple work sessions allowed participants the maximum opportunity to exchange best practices and strategies for results on topics ranging from at-risk youth mentoring to volunteer recruitment and corporate engagement in service programs. The roundtable was hosted by the Corporation for National and Community Service and the Points of Life Foundation. Support was provided by CSD and the Ford Foundation.
