The South is rich representing a broad range of opportunities for economic growth and development. It is there–in the South–where the Southern Region Asset Building Coalition engages new stakeholders at the annual conference to join our diverse group of practitioners, researchers, policymakers, funders, and advocates discuss challenges and solutions for economic growth for the southern region.
Over the past seven years, the conference has brought together advocates and experts from 18 states to collaborate on specific strategies and efforts to increase financial security for communities across the nation. “The public is especially invited to join this dynamic network at the 8th annual conference and become engaged in making concrete steps to ensure economic inclusion and wealth building for all,” McClendon said.
The conference’s purpose is to engage a diverse group of practitioners, researchers, policymakers, funders and other stakeholders from economic development and asset-building fields to discuss challenges and solutions for economic growth for the Southern region of the United States.
Special emphasis will be placed on defining policies and programs that support low-income families and communities. The focus is to provide participants with the latest information and research, to provide opportunities for collaboration, and to foster consideration of innovative ways to assist low- to moderate-income families in building wealth.
The conference will feature plenary and concurrent breakout sessions. The featured keynote speaker is Maxine Crump, the executive director of Dialogue on Race, based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
