Michael Sherraden inducted into new American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare

Michael Sherraden, the Benjamin E. Youngdahl Professor of Social Development at Washington University in St. Louis and founder and director of CSD, was recently inducted as a fellow in the new American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare (AASWSW), receiving recognition for his accomplishments as a scholar and practitioner who has achieved excellence for work that advances social good. He shares this honor with Brown School faculty Sarah Gehlert, Shanti Khinduka, and Enola Proctor.

AASWSW, which was established in fall 2009, encourages and recognizes outstanding research, scholarship, and practice that contribute to a sustainable, equitable, and just future. It is intended to inform social policy by serving as a frontline source of information for the social work profession, Congress, and other governmental and non-government entities. It promotes the examination of social policy and the application of research to test alternative policies, programs, and practices for their impact on society.
