Institutional Capacity for Older Adult Engagement in Service

Productive Aging

Twenty-two organizations in the St. Louis metropolitan area participated in a project to identify factors that discourage or encourage older adults to engage in voluntary service to society. Through surveys and focus groups, the project measured dimensions of institutional capacity: the structural mechanisms and policies that facilitate older adults’ knowledge of, access to and motivation to participate in service opportunities.
