Numerous theoretical frameworks have been used to explain factors that influence the outcomes of microentreprenuership. Theories related to human capital, social capital, and financial assets have guided most studies. While these theories may provide part of the explanation, they do not adequately explain all the phenomena pertaining to microentrepreneurs’ performance. This study examines both individual and institutional characteristics that may be related to performance.
