Special Issue | Innovations in Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment: Understanding the Role of International Development Volunteers as Transnational Actors

By CSD • December 16, 2021March 8, 2022

What roles can International Development Volunteers play in advancing gender equality and empowering women?

This special issue of the journal Voluntaris presents findings from analyses of data collected from the staff of volunteer-receiving organizations in 10 countries of the Global South. Articles in the issue suggest ways in which volunteers and host organizations collaborate in addressing obstacles to gender equality and empower women through programming. The issue raises several considerations for improving volunteer programming in pursuit of gender equality.
