My Path: An Innovative Initiative to Increase Financial Capability Among Economically Vulnerable Youth

This brief summarizes the goals and key features of Mission SF Community Financial Center’s Make Your Path (MY Path) initiative, which was designed to offer a comprehensive suite of financial services to participants in youth employment and youth development programs. In 2011 and 2012, Mission SF piloted MY Path among ninth and tenth graders in the Mayor’s Youth Employment and Education Program, which offers leadership and employment training in San Francisco, California. This brief describes an evaluation of that effort, summarizes findings, and draws insights for subsequent efforts.
