Labs, centers, and other “dispersed institutes of social innovation” are common features in colleges and universities, but what role do they play within institutions of higher education, and how can college and universities best support small-scale units that prioritize innovation?
This article identifies conditions conducive to social innovation and how incubators, accelerators, and other hybrid institutes can create innovative environments. The study also identifies strategies that higher education institutions can deploy to support dispersed institutes of social innovation.
