Understanding the Use of Digital Finance Among Older Internet Users in Urban China: Evidence From an Online Convenience Sample

Digital financial tools offer financial access to unbanked and underbanked populations, yet an individual’s willingness to take up such tools can depend on attitudes toward digital finance, access to appropriate technology, and other factors.

In this study, researchers surveyed 268 older adult internet users from 14 provinces in China after the nationwide COVID-19 lockdown in 2021. The findings suggested participants’ willingness to take up digital financial services and revealed nuances in older adults’ engagement with those services.
