The Impacts of Individual Development Accounts, Assets, and Debt on Future Orientation and Psychological Depression

Does owning assets have psychological benefits? This study tested the hypothesis that it does. The findings, obtained through analysis of data from a randomized, controlled experiment with participants in an Individual Development Account program, offer insights for research on the effects of asset ownership.
