In this introduction to the Special Issue on Financial Capability and Asset Building for Family Financial Wellbeing, Julie Birkenmaier, David Rothwell, Jodi Jacobson Frey, and Darla Spence Coffey offer a glimpse at the state of scholarship on financial capability and the future of work to strengthen family financial well-being. Published in the Journal of Family and Economic Issues, the special issue emerged from a conference organized by the Financial Capability and Asset Building Initiative at the Center for Social Development and the Financial Social Work Initiative at the University of Maryland School of Social Work.
