Organized by the Assets and Education Initiative at the School of Social Welfare, University of Kansas, and the Center for Social Development at Washington University in St. Louis, the Assets and Education Research Symposium explored the growing interest in the potential for assets to improve youths’ educational outcomes. This report summarizes insights from the March 2012 gathering. Part I of the report reviews research presented at the symposium, offer critiques, and suggests directions for future research. Part II presents the case that assets can play an important role in a comprehensive education plan.
