This introduction prefaces a special issue of the Journal of Consumer Affairs: Starting Early for Financial Success. Margaret Sherraden and Michal Grinstein-Weiss collaborated with the Financial Literacy and Education Commission to develop this issue, which published several articles that originated as papers presented during A Convening on Financial Capability and Asset Building: Advancing Education, Research and Practice in Social Work. CSD hosted the 2015 conference, which brought together scholars and educators to develop an agenda for reintroducing financial capability and asset-building content into social work curricula.
