Disease outbreaks go hand in hand with a host of adversities. By identifying what underpins resilience in those situations, is it possible to avoid or lessen those adversities?
This study introduces the Disease Outbreak Resilience Index (DORI), a tool developed by the authors to assess readiness for the shocks associated with disease outbreaks and resilience to overcome them. It then explains how the DORI can be used in multiple contexts and illustrates its application through an analysis of household data from 10 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
